- 简介:
- When polymer chains crystallize, they undergo a dramatic conformational transition from random coil to highly ordered chain segments packed within crystal lattice. Upon heating above the melting point, time is required for these ordered conformations to disappear fully. The melt can retain a “memory” of its previous crystalline organization. This memory can markedly enhance nucleation subsequent crystallization. The effect has important consequences for polymer processing and material properties. In this lecture factors influencing melt memory will be discussed, and how it may be harnessed to improve polymer processing.
