Managerial implications. Firms can use the properties of the value function
to select late-stage clinical trials for their drug-development project
portfolios. Firms can also use our optimal policy to guide patient recruitment
in their clinical trials considering competition from other drugs in the
marketplace.

Dr. Zhili Tian is the Dunavant Endowed Associate Professor of Supply Chain
Management. An exceptional scholar, Dr. Tian actively collaborates with
industry partners and is deeply dedicated to student success. Previously,
he served as a faculty member in Transportation and Civil Engineering
at Tsinghua University, where he directed numerous research projects,
led state- and provincial-level transportation planning initiatives, and
secured multiple grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of
China.
