Workshop for English teachers and those interested in teaching research, aimed at introducing how to use narrative analysis in academic English teaching research. The workshop includes practical sessions guiding participants to design their own small-scale research proposals. Christina Higgins is a Professor in the Department of Second Language Studies at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where she also directs the Center for Creole and Pidgin Studies. A sociolinguist, she previously served as Chair of the Department, Director of Graduate Affairs, and Chair of the PhD Admissions Committee. Drawing on social constructivist and semiotic frameworks, her research examines multilingual phenomena from a discursive perspective. She aims to conduct scholarship that contributes to positive social change, positioning herself as a 'real-world' sociolinguist. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, ethnographic discourse analysis, multilingualism, language and identity, family language policy, language and globalization, and community-based participatory research. She is the author of two books and over 60 articles and book chapters. Christina Higgins currently serves on the editorial boards of Applied Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Review.
